I have been involved in the kink community for just on a couple of decades.
The lure of anonymity as a gimp came to me when I sat through yet another rope dojo, another " how to" / skill share / workshop, yet another "101" on any number of activities.
If only I could be an unknown or newbie again!? If only I could be in the shadows.... waiting a command.
That was why i became a gimp. Nobody knows them, where they came from, where they go, what they do and who they are in real life!
Each day the joy of being new and unknown again... just a gimp, an object.
THAT's why I love being a gimp!
Why an online gimp? Why now?
It's EXACTLY the right time to break the glass, cut the lock, and haul-out your dazed gimp!
In times of "trouble", a gimp is the perfect distraction!
When things went haywire with the world, and found us all scraping at some dusty semblance of our previous lives.
When online time, is still, for the most part, the best and safest way to interact with others. We are all turning to online alternatives.
I come from a service background, both kink and vanilla, and I too had to change the away i do things and go on line.
I still want to meet strange, new and interesting people, and have them "beat up on" me!
But how to do that in these times of lock downs, level 3 shutdowns, total travel bans (however does a gimp get to serve?) and restrictions on even the most basic interactions, let alone the more "contact sport" related activities.
That amount of exposed saliva, gimp sweat and other secretions, is no good for anyone at the moment! The amount of drool I produced the other day practicing on a 2 foot long dildo would have had the local Epidemiologists having conniptions, and onlookers running away. So we have to interact the best way we can.
The number of Zoom, skype and other "meetings" is testament to the potential for online interactions...and therefore an online gimp.
So, practice safe, socially distanced and the appropriate level of abundant precaution and, '... break out the gimp!'
